Making a custom video player for your website

There are two ways for KA Data Group to embed a custom video player into your website.  Using either method requires that you have a YouTube account set up and established for your business or website.  Personal accounts aren’t recommended for various reasons (See this article).  Assuming the account is set up, choose one of the following paths;

1.   The easiest way is for you to have us do everything for you.  You will need to provide us with your user ID and password for access to your YouTube account.  We will do everything else for you.  Even though this is easy, it involves billable time, -and since it can be done on your own,  the second method might be for you!

2.   The Do-It-Yourself steps are pretty simple;

a.       Visit www.youtube.com/custom_player (You will be asked to login to your account if you are not already.)

b.      Follow the on-screen instructions;

i.      Player Name – Enter something like, “Our Web Channel” or something that will help you know why this player was configured.  You may add a description in the same section.

ii.      Choose one of the color themes shown that will best match the colors of your web site.

iii.      There are two “layouts” available.  Unless you have been told differently by a KA Data Group developer, select the first, smaller layout.  The second layout may require additional programming and costs.

iv.      Content - If you haven’t already created a playlist on your account as a container for your website videos, you may want to do that now.  This will help keep videos well organized and easy to access and manage.  If the playlist was already made, it will be visible in the list.  Select the playlist (ie. Website videos) and press the “Select” button to confirm your choice.

v.      When each of the sections have been completed, you may press the “Generate Code” button.  The screen will save your custom player information and return with a box towards the bottom of the screen that contains the code we will need to place into your website.  It will look something like;

vi.      Copy all of the text included in the object section and paste it into an email to be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

vii.      We’ll take it from there!

Once we embed the player into your website, any video that you add to your designated playlist (ie. “Website videos”) while you are in your YouTube account, will be viewable by visitors on your website. 

Get creative and add videos that you want to share with your website visitors or upload your own videos that you make on your own.  It’s a great way to promote your business and have your own commercials!
