How can I find details about a Domain Name?
If you are wondering about a Domain Name details, such as the expiration date, the owner, the registrar, or other publicly available information, you can find a lot of information at www.statelinedomain.com. When you go to statelinedomain.com just enter the domain name (ie. kadatagroup.com) in the box that says, "Start Your Domain Name Search Here!", and enter the name only (without the .com). In the box after the name, you will select the extension (.com, .net, .org, or whatever) and then click the "Search" button. The next screen will state that the Domain Name is already taken, followed by a link that says, "click here for details". Click on the link and the next screen will explain the privacy statement and display a box on the right showing a "captcha" access code. Simply enter the code in the box labeled "Enter Access Code" and press the "Verify Code" button. the final page will show most of the information that you may b e looking for.
(The access codes prevent automated programs from harvesting potentially private information automatically, thus ensuring only humans are viewing the public information.)
An interesting side note... Often, we see clients that simply launch a browser like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc. and then enter a desired name (URL) into the address bar. If the return result is a "Page not found" error or similar, they assume that the name is available for registration. This is NOT the case. Often names are registered or reserved without pointing to a hosted web site. Again, the best verification is to check a name with a web site like www.statelinedomain.com. It doesn't cost anything and is a fast and accurate source of information!
